On January 17, 2009, United States Military Academy cadet freshman Trent Kraychir performed a personal best throw of 55'7" with the 35-pound weight throw in a triangular track meet between West Point, Colgate, and Binghamton at the Academy on Saturday January 17, 2009.

Kraychir's throw placed him second to Binghamton's Joanel Lopez, who threw 56'1¼", but it was good enough to earn him a spot in the 2009 IC4A Championships.

Interestingly, Kraychir has made great strides at the Academy, adding a fourth turn to his already successful throwing abilities, which he firmly believes has aided him during this important transition year from the high school to collegiate implement weight.  In high school he threw 25-pounds, while at West Point, he is required to throw the 35-pound weight throw, an increase of 10 pounds.

Moreover, on January 21, Kraychir was selected Patriot League Track & Field Rookie of the Week for his performance the previous weekend, and was honored by a full write up on GoArmySports.com.

2009: Army beats Navy in their annual indoor track meet 107 to 74, and Trent earns his first star and his "A" letter- not too bad for a plebe.
